Sujith SN’s minimalist tempera paintings explore how architectural structures dictate power and hierarchy. In Gateway to the Botanical Garden (2025), drawing from the seventeenth-century botanical text Hortus Malabaricus, he juxtaposes a luminous colonial-style barrier against a deep, enigmatic green wilderness, creating a haunting tension between history and nature.
Moving beyond his early rust-colored palette, Sujith treats color as philosophy, using pigment and luminosity to generate dissonance. His work Elsewhere or Otherwise (2025) functions as a liminal passage between the imagined and remembered, archiving cultural and ecological traces hidden from plain sight. Within these desolate topographies, meaning emerges intuitively, leaving viewers suspended in a landscape of eternal stillness.
